About

GeekSweat is written and run by a bunch of average guys who love to play games.

The goal of Geek Sweat is to give gamers a place where they can honestly talk about games.  We are not sponsored by anyone and play games that we buy with money out of our own pockets.  This gives us an unbiased, genuine view of the games we play, and you get to read what real gamers really think about the game industry.  We are not a site that just regurgitates press releases, writes articles that we are not interested in, or blows through a game just so we can get a review out.  Every writer for GeekSweat will only write an article on a subject that they know or have experience with.  We keep out posts focused on what we personally think is interesting and avoid a bunch of uninspired filler content.

If you like what you read or have a suggestion on how we can make the site better, let us know in the comments or drop us a line through e-mail.  We love to talk about games with people who love playing them.

If you would like to contribute to Geek Sweat by writing an article, review, or news post contact us and we can set something up.  If you would like to have the chance to get your opinion heard, put a new spin on gaming news, or tell everyone about your struggle with game addiction, here is your chance! We are not going to pay you anything for your contribution, but we will give you credit with a nice little “Guest Post by:” at the bottom.  But who knows, if you write a bunch of articles we might get you something nice.  Help us build our community!

Contact information is on the “Contact” page.  Also, have a look at our “Become a Community Writer” page

Geeksweat Writers:

Lorenzo Veloria

I figured I should start a game website because I began to see that my close friends and loved ones were tired of hearing me talk about them.

I like to talk about why I like games rather than why I don’t like them. Otherwise the discussion just ends up being too whiny. I buy every Nintendo console just so I can play the next Zelda, and I love to chat up anything related to video games, comics, Star Wars, the zombie apocalypse, Simpsons pre-10th season but post-2nd season, and fighting/ beating people up (boxing, martial arts, etc.).

Just an average gamer, playing games in what little spare time I have.  That’s what Geeksweat is all about, the true gamers out there.  Currently stuck on a whole bunch of FPS games: Medal of Honor, Battlefield Bad Company 2, BlackOps.  Hit me up on Xbox Live if you are down to team up: Maxpower156.

I’m Patrick. I sold my NES at a garage sale and I’ve regretted it ever since. One of my favorite games of all time, Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out, I’ve never beaten because I refuse to use a password to get to the last fight and Don Flamenco would always beat me up the second time you fight him. I hate Don Flamenco’s graceful boxing style.

I’m Aaron. I like guitars!

Kevin O’Neill

Kevin

Kevin O’Neill writes for Geeksweat from a bunker 14 feet below a Wendy’s restaurant in Oakland, CA. In simpler times, he graduated from CSU, Chico with a degree in English, before moving on to get his MFA in Fiction from St. Mary’s College. He now focuses his time on playing games (RPG’s, Action/Adventure, some sports and FPS), photoshopping people, and writing scholarly articles on vomiting zombies and the future of the volleyball spinoff genre.

Frank Morgan

Frank

Frank is twenty-six but spent the last twenty years in a game-induced haze. He prefers first person shooters, decent storylines and adrenaline rushes. He graduated from partying college and is trying to be a productive member of society. He was recently the victim of an unprovoked Photoshop attack (see picture) and is plotting revenge. He is sarcastic, occasionally funny and refuses to talk about himself in the third person.

Brandin Tyrrel

Brandin enjoys video games and writing – he regularly combines the two in order to save time.  He also enjoys standing dangerously close to tornadoes made out of guitars.
