I’ve been trying to convince a friend to get into the Mass Effect series for a good two years now, meeting resistance in the form of, “I have no time to play through ME1″ or “I think I’ll just jump into ME2.” Anyone who has played the Mass Effect series knows that a full playthrough of both games is essential to getting the full experience that the Mass Effect universe has to offer. So much happens in the story in regards to the characters and player choices that it would almost not be worth it to just play Mass Effect 2 on its own. Well, Xbox 360 owners now have a solution that will catch up any would be Mass Effect players that have been led astray.
Mass Effect: Genesis is an in-game comic originally released with the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2. Since the first Mass Effect was not released on the PS3, the developers used the comic to catch players up on the story and enabled them to make the critical story choices to be used in the second game.
Even if players have played through the first game and made all of the choices they wanted to make, the comic is still a great way to play with the other story options, especially if you want to do another Mass Effect 2 playthrough before the series finally comes out next year.
The Mass Effect: Genesis interactive comic is available now on Xbox LIVE for 320 MS points.
