Sony Shuts Down PlayStation Network Indefinitely

In an announcement this morning, Sony has decided to shut down PSN completely following a hacking attack that has crippled the already struggling network service.

Sony will now have to rebuild the entire service to ensure its integrity as hackers have been relentlessly attacking the network over the last week.  There is also a worry that personal information may have been stolen.  At this point, there is no ETA on when PSN will be back up and running. PSN currently connects 75 million PS3 players, let’s hope after Sony rebuilds the network, this kind of downtime will not occur.
