From Software finally revealed gameplay footage of their newest project, Dark Souls, and a new medieval fantasy itch comes to harass fans eagerly awaiting a new hair pullingly difficult adventure.
Just from the trailer, Dark Souls looks to have vastly improved graphics over its predecessor, more huge monsters to rip players to shreds, new weapons and armor sets, the return of the unique multiplayer system from Demon’s Souls, and an improved combat system with characters jumping on monsters and stabbing them in the back.
Having come late to Demon’s Souls and just recently getting through the game has had no affect in deterring my hunger to play more from From Software. The developers have mentioned to Famitsu that the game will be abandoning the hub system that was used in Demon’s Souls and is adopting a more open environment for players to wander around in. It will be interesting to see if more emphasis will be put on exploring the environment to find better loot and safer paths. I think it would be a nice change of pace from the level based, linear system that was used in Demon’s Souls.
Nevertheless, I will be keeping an eye out for and new developments and the impending release date announcement that is sure to come in the near future. The game is set to released TBA 2011.
In the mean time, check out the awesome gameplay trailer, and try not to drop your Sticky White Stuff.
