FPS Freak is a segment where we look at all things first-person shooter related. This week we take a look at the big-daddy of the FPS world: Call of Duty: Black Ops!
The finalized perk list for mulitplayer was leaked this week, and now that we have had a chance to look at the Pro versions of each, I thought we could do some analysis of each Tier. The one thing that I took away from the finalized perk list was simply that I believe we are going to see a lot more variation than we have seen in Modern Warfare 2.
Treyarch has removed some of the perks that I believe were cheap in Modern Warfare 2, including One Man Army, Danger Close, and Commando. They also removed Stopping Power which is huge! This perk in Modern Warfare 2 was mandatory since everyone used it, and if you didn’t have it equipped, you would go into a gun fight at a slight disadvantage. Removing Stopping Power is a big step forward for the multiplayer as it allows more variation in your loadouts.
Lastly, it looks like the Pro version of the perks offer a HUGE bonus, which makes sense considering now they are more difficult to unlock requiring three challenges to be completed before finally unlocking.
Tier 1
Ghost and Scavenger seem to be standouts in this tier. Staying off the radar is huge and Scavenger Pro allows you to replenish lethal grenades.
Tier 2
This slot has some really great perks to choose from. I can see myself using Steady Aim Pro to shoot quickly after running, Sleight of Hand for faster reload times or Warlord Pro for the extra lethal AND tactical grenade. Scavenger Pro+Warlord Pro is going to be a deadly combo!
Tier 3
The last slot is a really interesting bunch of perks, namely it has Marathon and Ninja so you can’t have unlimited sprint with being silent, you are going to have to choose one or the other.
